UBD Selects Students For `1Malaysia' Cultural Exchange ... - BruDirect

Bandar Seri Begawan - Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) through its Student Affairs Section yesterday held a selection to pick Brunei representatives for "1 Malaysia" Cultural Exchange Programme which will be held at Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM), Sabah from May 22 to 31.

The selection was held at the multi-purpose hall. According to UBD Deputy Dean of Students, Dr Hj Ramlee bin Hj Tinkong, the participants need to make a presentation on Brunei culture. "Besides that, we also look at the participants' active participation in sports, their academic performances as well as their knowledge in Brunei cultural traditions and, songs," he said.

During the selection, 10 UBD students each presented their topic on Brunei's weddings, cultural dances and many others. The selected students will be informed by the UBD Student Affairs by next week. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin

Polynesian Cultural Center offers free preview of 'Ha ... - Honolulu Advertiser

Check out a free preview of Polynesian Cultural Center's show, "Ha: Breath of Life," noon-1 p.m. tomorrow at Tamarind Park at Bishop Square, on the corner of Bishop and South King streets.

The performance, which starts at 12:15 p.m., will feature 14 Polynesian Cultural Center performers and three live musicians. The preview kicks off PCC's kamaaina spring special, which offers Hawaii residents seating at "Ha: Breath of Life" for $25, which includes a free dinner at the Gateway Buffet before the show.

With a cast of more than 100 performers, "Ha: Breath of Life" tells every man's story — from the apprehension of youth, to the stirrings of young love, and even the sorrow of death, "Ha" takes the audience on an emotion-filled ride through the sights and sounds of Polynesia.

Cultural and Gastronomic Spanish week starts with scintillating soiree


 

BEIRUT: March 22 saw the opening night of the Spanish Cultural and Gastronomic Week with a dazzling dinner at the Phoenicia-Intercontinental Hotel's Eau de Vie restaurant. Visiting chefs Julio Miralles Yuste and Daniel Gonzalez Molinera unveiled the splendor of Spanish cuisine, while guitarist Raul Viela serenaded guests with scintillating Spanish sounds. Among the hundreds of lucky guests were Tania Shahine, Nabil Hakim, Randa Abdallah and Hind Darwish.
